Flexform Groundpiece — Modular sofa by Antonio Citterio

A low, broad silhouette defines the Groundpiece, designed by Antonio Citterio for Flexform in 2001 and still regarded as a milestone of contemporary sofa design. Its modular structure allows individual configurations – here as a two-piece corner sofa 283 cm wide and 250 cm deep. At just 70 cm high, it keeps the room visually open, while the upholstery yields softly and ergonomically. The grey ELISIR N.409 fabric upholstery underlines its calm, timeless lines. Flexform manufactures the Groundpiece in Italy.

Flexform Groundpiece at aaron-gmbh.com — Sustainable comfort

In a spacious living area, this corner solution quickly becomes the centrepiece, where three people can stretch out comfortably. The deep seat invites you to lean back, and the seat height is approx. 40 cm. Because the elements are modular, they can be combined flexibly when you move or rearrange the room. The construction is designed for long-term use, and the upholstery keeps its shape even after years. The sofa has been checked and professionally refurbished and is ready in our warehouse in Hamburg.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What filling does the Flexform Groundpiece have?

The Groundpiece is available with either down filling or Dacron polyester filling. Both options offer high seating comfort, with down creating a softer, enveloping feel and Dacron being easier to maintain and more dimensionally stable.

What makes the Groundpiece special as a design classic?

Antonio Citterio designed the Groundpiece in 2001 for Flexform. With its low silhouette and modular construction, it set new standards for contemporary sofa design. The model is still manufactured in Italy today and is featured in design museums worldwide.

How do I care for the cushions of the Groundpiece?

Down cushions should be fluffed regularly to maintain their loft. For Dacron cushions, occasional patting is sufficient. Both fillings benefit from not being subjected to one-sided pressure for extended periods.

Is the Groundpiece modular and expandable?

Yes, the Groundpiece is based on a modular system with various elements such as seating, corner, and chaise lounge modules. The individual modules can be flexibly combined and expanded as needed.

Why buy a used Flexform Groundpiece?

A used Groundpiece from Aaron GmbH offers premium Italian quality at a sustainable price. Each piece is carefully inspected and refurbished – the robust construction and high-quality materials ensure that a Groundpiece still looks and functions excellently even after years.
